# It’s time to revisit ‘World of Warships’ and its slew of new updates for 2026

"World of Warships" has been on gamers' radar for more than a decade now, and the updates just keep getting better. This year has been no exception. In its earliest days, players were abuzz with the idea of [being able to fight as the Bismarck-class battleship Tirpitz](<https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/general-news/armada-tirpitz/>). Today, the roster includes the American battleship Missouri, the Japanese battleship Yamato, the UK's HMS Hood, and the iconic carrier USS Enterprise.

Its coming update includes German destroyer ZH-1, which was scuttled by its own crew just days after the Normandy landing of June 1944, after it was crippled by the Royal Navy during the Battle of Ushant. The game will also feature an event pass to the Battle of the Coral Sea, along with two commanders who fought there, Robert Dixon and Shigekazu Shimazaki.

Earlier updates in 2026 included new interface options and carrier mechanics. But the most exciting updates were all tributes to World War II. The event pass was the World War II Battle of Cape Matapan, while the Arctic Convoy, Tokyo Express, and Pacific Offensive were added as standard scenarios. The Imperial Japanese battleship Yamato, sunk in 1945 while attempting a suicide attack near Okinawa, is getting a lot of attention in this new update.

The reason for that is probably the most awesome thing about the 2026 updates so far: Swedish metal band Sabaton has joined the WoWS family—in many ways.

Sabaton frontman Joakim Brodén became available as a nationless commander, able to take command of any ship. With Brodén in command, Sabaton's music replaces the regular battle soundtrack. In addition, the Japanese battleship Yamato received unique Sabaton-themed "Crowned in Smoke and Flame" camouflage, while other ships can boast Sabaton's "Metal Flames" camo.

The collaboration between the band and the game is part of a celebration for Sabaton's new release, "Legends," and its first single, "Yamato."

Players of "World of Warships: Legends" will also be happy to hear they're getting an update, too. On May 4, 2026, "Legends" will get the Sabaton content, as well as a new campaign featuring Victoria, the game's first Spanish battleship. The tech tree will also make the first Pan-American cruiser, [the San Martin](<https://wowslegends.com/blogs/entry/4317-pan-american-cruisers-are-coming-to-early-access/>), researchable.
