Comic-Con just dropped action-packed ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ trailer

The first trailer for "Top Gun: Maverick" dropped July 18, 2019, at Comic-Con in San Diego and in case there was ever any doubt, Tom Cruise proves that even at 57, he is still one of the most badass action stars on the planet.

We learn little about the actual plot but the trailer is able to give viewers a clear idea of the tone of the sequel, as the titular fighter pilot appears to be as talented, fearless, and reckless as he was when we last saw him over 33 years ago. As one of his superior officers — played by Ed Harris — lists off Maverick's career accomplishments, we see Maverick has not lost his need for speed, as he flies through a desert at full-throttle before ascending up to the sky at nearly a 90-degree angle.

Raise your fitness game with this 10-move HIIT workout plan

With HIIT, otherwise known as high-intensity interval training, you can bang out impactful, serious workouts out in almost no time. This, plus the fact that they work is a big part of their rising popularity in the past few years. Research shows that when you target heart rate through HIIT, not only do you burn more fat during the workout, you continue to burn fat for 24 hours after you finish. That means a 20-minute sweat session will raise your fitness game far more than a 6-minute run ever could.

HIIT workouts are often divided into categories like strength, core, and cardio. But say you have 20 minutes at the gym and want to cover all your bases. Possible? You bet! Follow this plan of 10 moves. Do each for 30 seconds, followed by 10 seconds rest. Because precise timing is an important part of maximizing HIIT workouts, consider getting a stopwatch or countdown clock to make sure you are sticking with the schedule.

GOT author puts rumors about the final two novels to rest

Unless you live under a rock, you remember the series finale of "Games of Thrones" and massive fan uproar that ensued. The criticism lead many to question whether George R.R. Martin, author of the unfinished book series that inspired the show, would alter his plans for the end of the novels. Finally, Martin is speaking out about the speculation and putting rumors to rest.

The author told Entertainment Weekly that despite pressure from fans, he'll proceed with the final two "A Song of Ice & Fire" installments as planned. "You've been planning for a certain ending and if you suddenly change direction just because somebody figured it out, or because they don't like it, then it screws up the whole structure," he said.

This 5-minute workout will get you fit fast

You make your best effort to pick up the kettlebells or go for a run as often as you can, but there are those days (or, let's face it, weeks), when you can barely make it home in time for dinner, let alone heading out to a workout class. The thing is, your body doesn't care where you sweat. And to a certain extent, it doesn't care how long you sweat for. Sure, a 30-minute bodyweight workout burns more calories than 10, but research suggests even just a handful of minutes a day devoted to elevating your heart rate can have measurable results.

A University of Utah study, for instance, found that people who exercised less than 10 minutes but at a high intensity had a lower BMI than those who worked out for more than 10 minutes at moderate intensity. And a report in the medical journal Obesity found that people who split an hour of daily exercise into 5-minute chunks were better able to control their appetite and eating compared to those who did a traditional-length workout.

Galaxy’s Edge delays 'Star Wars' ride until 2020

Star Wars fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for the opening of the highly-anticipated "Rise of the Resistance" ride. The immersive experience is set to take over Disney World in Orlando on Dec. 5, 2019, (which also happens to be Walt Disney's birthday), but won't land in Anaheim's Disneyland until Jan. 17, 2020.

The new addition to the parks' Galaxy's Edge was announced in May 2019 and initially expected to open by the end of 2019. Given that the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run space flight simulator is currently the only Star Wars themed ride open at Galaxy's Edge, some park-goers are a tad disappointed. "These are not the dates we're looking for," a disgruntled fan cleverly wrote on Twitter.

Why ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ is the real ending of Marvel movies

There are a lot of great moments in Spider-Man: Far From Home, but there is one very specific and hilarious scene in which Peter Parker very confidently misidentifies AC/DC's killer song "Back in Black" by saying "I love Led Zeppelin!" And though this seems like a funny throwaway, this is actually the exact moment where Far From Home brings the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe full-circle. You may have thought Avengers: Endgame was the end of this era of Marvel movies, but really, the latest Spidey flick is the real ending. And that's because it wraps up multiple storylines about the only character who can never return to these movies — Iron Man.

If you squint through those special Tony Stark high-tech glasses, Spider-Man: Far From Home actually reads as Iron Man 4, and that's because a huge chunk of the movie is about how Peter Parker deals not only with a world without Tony Stark; but more specifically, a world which Iron Man created. Spoiler alert, but the entire conflict of Far From Home revolves around disgruntled former employees of Tony Stark; people who either got yelled at by Jeff Bridges in the very first Iron Man movie in 2008, or in the case of Jake Gyllenhaal's Quentin Beck, had their inventions hijacked and turned into holographic therapy for Stark.

10 ways to get a last-second 'beach body'

If you want to look good without a shirt on, you need to sweat, eat clean, and lift weights over a long period of time. That's sort of a no-brainer. If you want to look the way Dax Shepard, Ryan Hansen, and The Rock do on Instagram, though, you will also need a few tricks straight out of the movies. You see, celebrities and Instagram stars don't actually look that good all the time. They prep their bodies for upcoming projects the way you prep your house before company comes over. (It's not really that neat all the time, right?) So with a week to go before you and the family hit sand and surf, it's time to change up your food, hydration, and exercise regimen to put the final touches on your look. Plus, a little baby oil can't help to make the muscle you do have stand out. Here's what you need to do to look good this coming weekend.
