SUMMARY

Before the release of the most recent installment, Paramount is releasing the Transformers 6-Movie Collection Steelbook.

Transformers is a global brand for movies, cartoons, toys, video games and all kinds of ancillary merchandise. It has been instrumental in children and teen programming since the mid-1980s. Since 2007 Michael Bay has done an excellent job in bringing the robots to the silver screen in a larger-than-life manner. You feel you can reach out and touch them. Now, Paramount is releasing the Transformers 6-Movie Collection Steelbook.

It includes Transformers, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Transformers; The Last Knight and Bumblee. The movies are displayed in 4k Ultra HD in a steel bookcase that includes special features, bonus content and access to Digital Copies of the films.

The movies are known for their strong characters, both robot and human. Many actors have graced the franchise with their presence, including Mark Wahlberg, Shia Labeouf, Megan Fox, Hailee Stanfield, John Turturro, Frances McDormand, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock. The Transformers film series is also known for showing veterans in a good light. Throughout the films, they help the Autobots and good humans to stop the Deceptions.

They usually provide supporting fire, technology or problem-solving skills. Actors who portray strong veteran characters are Josh Duhamel as Captain to Colonel, William Lennox, an Army Ranger officer in the first three and then the fifth Transformers movies, and Tyrese Gibson as Sergeant to Chief Master Sergeant, Robert Epps, a US Air Force Combat Controller who appeared in the first three movies. He was supposed to appear in the fifth film but was not able to do so because of scheduling conflicts.

The box set and discs with special extras are great! Having taken mine out of the box and reviewed the materials, Paramount did an excellent job putting the set together with the right special features to please the fans. They know their audience. Another key part of the entire Transformers series is Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime, who based his characterization of the robot leader on his older brother Larry Cullen, a decorated Marine Vietnam veteran.

Larry told Peter he needed to be "Strong enough to be gentle," as the character, which Peter took right into the audition in 1984. The series and character have come a long way, with a Marine providing key inspiration for Peter to utilize when performing as Optimus Prime. Nonetheless, these pro-military and military-inspired elements make the Transformers series highly watchable, enjoyable and memorable. Check out the box set when you get the chance.
