The Jeep is one of those vehicles that will forever be tied to the U.S. military. From the iconic Willy’s Jeep that helped win World War II to the modern Jeep Wrangler found on literally every single military base (seriously, you see them out everywhere, from Yokosuka and Wiesbaden), the Jeep might be more closely associated with troops than even the Toyota Tacoma or Chevrolet Camaro at 15% interest. Appropriately, the Fox Factory V8 Jeep Wrangler Commando will only be sold to active military or veterans.

Resurrecting the Commando name from the 1960s Jeepster, Fox Factory has made a Wrangler that looks like it belongs in the motor pool, not in First Sergeant’s parking at the company headquarters. Only 250 of these special Wranglers will be made, and prices start at $69,995. Powered by a 392 HEMI V8, the Commando can also be had with an optional Whipple supercharger and MagnaFlow exhaust for an extra $11,495 and $3,395, respectively.

While $70-88k is certainly a lot of money, it’s actually a pretty good deal for any troops or vets looking for a V8 Jeep. A 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 starts around $100,000. Even with Jeep’s CEO promising that Wrangler V8s will come down to $80,000, the Fox’s Commando offers more than you’ll find at the dealership off base. It’s also worth noting that a single Jeep Wrangler Commando will be sold to the general public at auction. Fox highlights that proceeds from this sale will be donated to the USO.
Right off the bat, the ‘41 paint exterior is eye-catching, mirrors the classic Willy’s, and even extends under the hood. Next, the 37-inch Nitto mud terrain tires will ensure you don’t get stuck on a trail and miss formation on Monday morning. To fit those tires and provide additional ground clearance, the Commando features a 3.5-inch lift and Fox 3.0 external reservoir shocks. Finally, to make sure civilian Wrangler owners know that you’re in a different league, the military-exclusive Jeep comes with tube doors, a bimini top, and “COMMANDO” stenciled on the hood.

The Commando will be sold through Jeep stores and comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Additionally, Fox notes that service can be conducted at any Jeep dealership nationwide. Interested service members and veterans must apply for the opportunity to purchase. While it’s certainly a good deal if you’re already in the market for a V8 Jeep, maybe run it by your supervising NCO first. Just to be safe.
