Military recruiters often talk about tuition assistance as a benefit to military service. What they don’t mention is how difficult it can be finding the guidance to sign up for courses and the time on active duty to actually take them. Luckily, National University knows the unique challenges of being an active duty student and is prepared to help.

NU was founded by a Navy veteran and set up for adult learners. One of their hallmarks is year-round enrollment. It doesn’t matter if it’s November and you just graduated from boot camp or July and you just completed your fifth PCS move; you can enroll at NU.

Now that you’ve enrolled, it won’t be long before you start your first class. NU utilizes a four-week course structure with monthly starts. This means you can start classes sooner and finish them faster.

The National University main campus is located in San Diego, California. If you find yourself stationed at 32nd Street or Miramar, attending classes in person is possible. However, online classes are also available for you to attend at your convenience. No matter where you’re at, NU has something for you.

NU is committed to helping military students reach their higher education goals. To that end, NU offers military tuition discounts that add up to more than 50% off for active duty. On top of that, NU also offers a Military Tuition Scholarship of up to $2,500 which is available to eligible military personnel, including active duty, reservists, national guards, spouses and dependents.

On active duty, there’s always a seasoned NCO or officer that you can go to for guidance and answers. At NU, there are dedicated military advisors and support teams. Military enrollment advisors can help you get signed up and an academic advisor can help you stay on track for your degree. If a little extra help is needed, NU even offers tutoring.

National University also recognizes the sacrifices made by the dependents of active duty service members. In appreciation of this, NU extends a discounted tuition rate to dependents whether they take courses online or, on campus.

With all of these resources and benefits, National University makes it easy for active duty students to work towards a degree while serving. Whether you want to earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science or nursing or a post-grad degree in engineering or finance, NU can help you get there. You just have to take the first step.
