YouTuber and AI-slop extraordinaire Gorm The Old has released new videos that might soon be his greatest hits: Summaries of the most important events of World War I and World War II, animated entirely through clips from “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” and modified to take place across Europe and the Mediterranean.

The result, while maybe not the most historically accurate use of uniforms and tactics, is still hilarious for both World War history buffs and “GTA: San Andreas” fans.
By the way, the “AI-slop extraordinaire” isn’t a slam on Gorm. He readily admits that nearly all of his videos are made with AI, uses the tagline “The AI slop you just can’t help but love,” and most of his videos have thumbnails that say “100% A.I.”
But he does use the technology for some legitimately funny, creative mashups, like showing the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand if it had taken place on Grove Street, San Andreas. (If you would rather watch the World War II version, you can always watch it—and more—on YouTube.)

And there’s something perfect about depicting the World Wars in a video game whose most famous meme is, “Ah shit, here we go again.”
The gang members from the Grove Street families do fairly well in both World War I and World War II, surviving from the assassination of the archduke in 1914 and the rise of the Nazi Party in 1933, through nearly the end of both.
The Carl “CJ” Johnson of World War I fights mostly for England, taking part in the Christmas Truce and, later, the infamous landing at Gallipoli. He also waves a French flag at departing troops, reinforces French troops at Le Marne, and dies in a mostly German-appearing uniform—so he’s sort of a Forrest Gump of the Great War.

In World War II, he witnesses the invasion of Poland, dances on rooftops during the Battle of Britain, tells Japanese torpedo planes at Pearl Harbor “Welcome to America,” and parachutes into Italy. During the the Battle of the Bulge, he fights for the Germans for some reason, while yelling at American G.I.s “Grove Street for Life!” Then he promptly flees to Argentina, which is a funny little detail.
Probably worth investigating how likely the Germans would have been to accept a Black Angeleno into their army, though they were pretty desperate by the end of 1944.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but the scenes are humorous animations without much focus on historical details. Except for the use of a handgun, the assassination of the archduke looks much more like the failed first attempt than the successful real second attempt of the day.
Many of the uniforms are pretty bad. And for some reason, the battleships in Pearl Harbor are firing their largest naval artillery guns at the Japanese fighters and bombers, which seems like a dubious tactic.

But, you know, how many tokens do you expect Gorm to burn trying to get the details right of a video depicting a 1990s Los Angeles gang banger wielding an AK-47 in 1944 combat?
If you want to learn even more military history from extremely shallow and dubious internet sources, here are 9 hilarious memes that teach real military history.
And, hopefully, we won’t give Gorm any new world wars to work with. Even though it might be funny to see CJ sucking down Rip-Its during the push into Tehran.
