These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Life on the trail — sigh. It’s a gig like no other. It’s intense, it’s nonstop, and it’s full of some of the craziest stories you will ever hear in the military. It’s like a decade of military life, compacted into 24 months of chaos. That’s drill life as we know and love it — or as we know and hate it.

Take a look at these totally accurate memes describing these most hardcore moments in life on the trail.

  1. Sometimes, silence says the most
These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

You know they know you’re there.

2. This might come in handy

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

The sale is a bonus, of course.

3. Sometimes the creative punishments work the best

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Rain has been mopped, Drill Sgt.

4. When the knife hand is on fire

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Let it fly.

5. When the stories don’t add up

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Let’s try that one again.

6. It will never be clean enough

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Start over, trainees. Welcome to drill life.

7. Meanwhile, spouses are on their best behavior too

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

You’re supposed to turn it off at home though.

8. Those wild goose chases though

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Better hurry, time’s started!

9. Sometimes the stars just align

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Sounds like a heyday all around.

10. This is how it feels some days

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

But you never get your card in the mail.

11. When a private *finally* gives the best answer of all time

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Well done, kid.

Drill life is its own kind of crazy, and these memes perfectly sum up some of the most common instances of wearing the brown round.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of March 15th

There’s just something special about Duffle Blog articles. Most joke news sites make it completely obvious that they’re jokes and should never be taken seriously. Most rational people would read a headline like “Are Millenials killing the telegram industry?” and take the joke at face value. Then there’s satire – an art form truly mastered by the folks at DB.

Actual satire is a joke about something taken to the extreme so the audience can see the absurdity in whatever is being ridiculed. Think Stephen Colbert when he was on Comedy Central. Great satire blurs those lines so obscurely that no one can really tell the absurdity. Think Don Quixote and how people believed it was a story about how chivalrous knights were.

Their recent “VA tells vets to use self-aid, buddy-aid before asking for appointment with doctor” is perfect satire. Great article and when you read it, it’s obviously a joke. But that’s not how people reacted to the headline. Oh boy. It’s fake, but it feels like it’s something that could be implemented next Thursday…

On a much lighter note, half of all social media users were unable to connect Wednesday, and we got a new trailer for the upcoming Avengers film. I’m not saying it’s a coincidence, but it definitely smells like the greatest viral marketing strategy for a film to date.

If you survived the “Snappening,” enjoy some memes!

8 funny working dog memes that’ll make you wag your tail

Military working dogs and police canines are some of the most capable members of their respective forces. But they also have big pointy or floppy ears and wagging tails and cute little paws and sometimes we just can’t even help ourselves and we want videos of them being fur missiles or photos of them searching for stuff or any memes of them.

Coincidentally, that’s what we have here: 8 memes of awesome working dogs and police canines (except one is probably a military family’s pet but whatever):

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

“You’re hired. Please proceed to the kennels for unlimited petting.”

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

And yes, I know this is probably a pet German Shepherd, but there’s some officer in the photo so I’m letting it slide.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Just watch out for the luggage tags. They’ll snap on you if the restraints come off.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

“It’s really just me signing my work, sergeant.”

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Also, Ronin is a pretty sweet name for a police dog.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

As long as you know, for sure, he’s the bad guy before you bite him, what’s the problem?

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

I mean, it’s free. What do you have to lose? Besides a bicep.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Gonna need to eat lots of bad guys for protein, as well. But first, come lick our faces.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of November 30th

Man, you cut yourself off from the outside world for one extended weekend and you miss everything. Apparently, lettuce is now dangerous and, supposedly, generals carrying “assault” weapons in Afghanistan are dangerous, and some tribe in the Indian Ocean that’s capable of firing a metric f*ckload of arrows into moving airplanes is dangerous, too.

So, if you’ve managed to not die from tainted lettuce or North Sentinelese archers this week, congratulations! You’ve earned yourself some memes.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of August 31st

It looks like Hurricane Lane is finally done wrecking Hawaii, leaving in its wake record rainfall, widespread building damage, and places without power. Since Hawaii is home to many military installations from each branch, they won’t have to look too hard to find bodies for their 10,000-man aid detail.

If you’re stationed in Hawaii, you’ll more than likely be used in the clean-up efforts — you know, just as soon as you finish sweeping all the crude that washed into the motor pool.

These memes probably can’t soothe the pain of being the only person who’s actually going to work while your buddies are making their third run to the gut truck and your NCOs are “supervising.” But, hey, they can’t hurt, either.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of January 18th

It seems like everyone is doing that dumb “ten year’s difference” thing on Facebook. Personally, I think this is just depressing for the military community no matter how you slice it.

Either you’re a young troop who’s now reminded of how goofy they looked as a civilian, you’re a senior enlisted/officer who’s now reminded of how much of a dumb boot they once were, or you’re a veteran who’s being reminded of how in shape you once were ten years ago.

If you’re an older vet who’s been out for longer than ten years, well, you’re probably the same salty person in the photo, and no one could tell the difference or that you aged. Maybe a bit more gray and less hair.

Anyways. The Coast Guard hasn’t been paid, but at least these memes are free!

These 11 memes perfectly describe military uniforms

Blues, Pinks and Greens, NWUs, Cammies, ABUs, ODUs, ACUs — whatever you wear, or whatever you call it, it’s the standard in your branch. These are names of the most common daily wear (and dress uniforms) of military branches. Though the uniforms themselves vary among the ranks and jobs, the jokes usually do not. After all, there are ample rules and variations, and it’s tough to keep it all straight. Besides, what fun is it if you don’t poke fun at the next branch’s duds? Don’t worry though, it’s all in good fun.

Take a look at these military uniform inspired memes and the people who proudly represent them every day of the year.

  1. Starting off with weather regs

3. Some things just don’t fit like they used to

7. Get it

10. You can’t unsee it

11. Maybe it’s not the uniform afterall

Here’s how it feels to PCS … in memes

New town and new life ahead … at least that’s the plan. At some point. In the meantime you’re waiting on orders, waiting on movers and waiting to start your life in a completely new location. That’s the life of a military affiliated family member. Whether you’re active duty yourself or serve dutifully as a milspouse, PCSing never seems to go as planned. This doesn’t come as a shock to anyone. However, we somehow still find some grace, some positivity and some humor in moving to the next duty station.

Take a look at these memes that describe how and when everything goes wrong, and how we can laugh it off in the process.

  1. It would’ve been easier to spread this all out.
These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Common sense, man.

2. If this isn’t the truest thing we’ve ever seen

The odds are never in our favor.

3. Sprinting to file paperwork ASAP

An “adventure” or “cluster of too much to do”?

4. Splurge for the extra copies. Just do it.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Hand it out like candy.

5. We’re still here

Thanks for asking that super obvious question.

6. Bye, nerds.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

*Hopes you’re never stationed with them again.*

7. When you’re tired of asking over and over again

WHAT is taking so long though?

8. But really who named this thing anyway?

We all know it’s NOT forever.

9. I love PCSing, it’s my favorite. PCSing is the best. Among others.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

It’s true, no one says it.

10. This is a constant fear:

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Will it all arrive in one piece? Only time will tell.

PCSing is no joke. Whether it’s your first or 10th, you go through the same rapid emotions and ups and downs. Including all of the hurrying up and waiting, lost and/or changing plans, and everything in between.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of March 22nd

It was recently reported that, back in October, the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit drank Reykjavík, the capital city of Iceland, dry when they pulled into port. That’s not an expression or an over exaggeration. They literally drank every last bit of alcohol in the city over the course of their liberty to the point where the town reportedly had troubles restocking for their own citizens.

The most astounding thing about this entire story is that only one young, dumb lance corporal got in trouble for disorderly conduct — and we can only assume they’ve since been Ninja Punched into oblivion. But seriously, I have strong reservations about there only being one drunken problem. You mean to tell me that we can’t throw a barracks party without the MPs getting involved and an entire MEU got sh*tfaced drunk and only a single idiot did anything wrong?

I’m not saying it’s completely impossible — maybe things happened and were simply kept in-house — but if it’s really true and everyone was that well-behaved… BZ. Color me impressed.

To all you troops out there that aren’t that one Marine in Reykjavík, you’ve earned yourselves some memes.

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of April 26th

I’m calling it now. This weekend will be one of the quietest weekends in recent history. Why? It has nothing to do with 2nd MARDIV’s insane level of micromanaging and everything to do with how lower enlisted troops think.

For starters, it’s a non-pay day weekend for the second time in a row. Less shenanigans when everyone is broke as Hell. Secondly, NCOs will know exactly where everyone is located at any given moment. Friday night? They’re all out seeing Avengers Endgame. Saturday afternoon? In the barracks playing the new Mortal Kombat game. Saturday night? Probably seeing Avengers again. Sunday? Too hungover (I said quiet, not uneventful) and Sunday night will be Game of Thrones.

If you’re an NCO trying to find a good reason to cheer up your sergeant major, pointing out the lack of blotter reports on their desk will surely help.

Here’s to a quiet, entertainment filled weekend. Enjoy some memes.

Expectations vs. reality for 2021 in memes

There’s no denying that 2021 has started with a bang – good or bad, we’ve had a dramatic first few weeks of January. But, this is also a stark difference to what we were hoping it would be. For some reason, the majority of the population had an unwavering, illogical view that with the New Year, we’d all have a change of fate and everything would be better. Like magic. The clock flipped and all the bad stuff would disappear … or at least take a sharp turn toward the decline.

That has – obviously – turned out to not be true. However, the transition and lack of smoothness has left us with a whole slew of memes. Join us as we chuckle about our own blindness to reality, and the jokes that came along with it.

  1. The 2021 NYE party we wished we’d had
These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

What a snoozer.

2. Still no travel plans in the foreseeable 2021 future

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Yet so many dishes.

3. Don’t forget the laundry

Cycle watching is the new streaming alternative.

4. Meanwhile, the online shopping is getting even more disappointing.

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

*clicks return now* At least in 2021, returns are easier than they used to be.

5. For anyone who tried an at-home haircut

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Just wait it out folks, please.

6. There’s always background filters

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Travel anywhere with a green screen and a swipe, because that’s about all you’re allowed to do in the first few months of 2021.

7. But hey, spring is coming soon

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

HOPEFULLY it’s the perfect weather for evening out those mask lines.

8. The latter is the January we actually got

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

Hopes were dashed; breakfasts were ruined.

9. When you wake up and everything got crazy

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

We just wanted a little rest. Sigh. 2020’s boredom naps are forecasted to continue well into 2021.

10. But no matter what, resist the urge to get bangs!

These 11 memes perfectly describe drill life

This is something even the New Year can’t fix.

We may not have started off the year the way we planned, but there are always memes to be made. From unfortunate haircuts, to canceling yet one more set of travel plans, so far, 2021 is not turning out to be the breath of fresh air that we had hoped for. But it’s here and we’re tackling it the best way we know how: with dumb jokes on the Internet. Go forth meme makers and continue your good work.

What’s your favorite of 2021 so far?

The 13 funniest military memes for the week of January 25th

The government shutdown has been going on for well over a month now and the Coast Guard is still going without pay. My heart honestly burns for each and everyone one of those affected by the shutdown, but there’s one group of Coasties feeling it the worst: the Coast Guard recruiters.

I mean, think about it. It sucks to show up and still have to guard the coasts. Yet, they can continue their mission with a sour look on their face and abundant worries about paying rent. The recruiters? Yeah. I’m damn sure no one made their quota this month. Good luck getting anyone into the door when you can’t even promise them a steady paycheck.

Anyways, just like the Coasties working Lyft after duty, the meme train keeps on rolling.
