But the truth is, there's so much to appreciate, see, and do in the Keystone State! So when it's time for your next four-day, why not pack up the car and head out on this ideal trip?

Exploring Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is home to one of the most famous battles in U.S. history. The Gettysburg National Military Park provides visitors with an interactive experience. This way, you can explore the battle from both sides. At the park, you will find a variety of monuments and memorials along with living history activities such as re-enactments. There are also plenty of museums around town, including The Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center. Both have plenty of artifacts from the battle on display. In addition to its historical offerings, there are plenty of lodging and dining options, too.

Speaking of Gettysburg, did you know a Minnesota regiment sacrificed itself to save the Union Army during the battle?

Experiencing Amish Life in Lancaster County, PA

For many visitors, Lancaster County is well known for its large population of Amish citizens whose culture dates back centuries ago when they first arrived from Europe. Be on the lookout for horse-drawn carriages going down the roads. Kids will surely delight in this reminder that time has stood still for this community for generations. Enjoy time spend shopping at small, family-run shops. Or check out Yoder's Country Market and stock up on locally grown fruits and vegetables. Deviate off the main road and check out the Amish churches scattered throughout rural townships. There's so much to discover about these unique people and their way of life!

Discovering the Unique Story Behind Hershey

Hershey, Pennsylvania, isn't just home to one of America's most popular chocolate factories. It's also a testament to Milton Hersey's success story. Over 100 years ago, he founded his very own candy company after working as an apprentice at various chocolate companies around town.

Those who visit Hershey Park can get discounted tickets for military families. That way, you won't break the bank while enjoying all sorts of rides. Plus, if you decide to stay overnight at Hershey Lodge, you can tour the factory itself, where you can watch how chocolates are made. Then, be sure to take part in the divine tasting sessions! You can sample some delicious treats straight off the assembly line.

Speaking of chocolate, this Hershey bar was custom-built for WWII.

Whether you're looking for an educational experience or want good old-fashioned fun, Pennsylvania has it all with these three destinations. Explore Civil War history at Gettysburg National Military Park or learn more about Amish culture in Lancaster County. Maybe you and the family just want to relax at Hershey Park while noshing on fresh chocolate treats. Pennsylvania has something for everyone, no matter what type of vacation you're looking for.
